Your Personal Information
We will treat all your information as private and confidential (even when you are no longer a client) except where we are permitted by law or where the disclosure is made at your request or with your consent in relation to arranging your loan or mortgage. Where your application has been introduced by a third party, for example another broker, we may disclose information concerning the progress of your application to them. We will be pleased to confirm if this is the case.
We will store the information about you on computer and in other records. We will only use this information for the purposes registered under the Data Protection Act 1998, and where appropriate the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2001. This may include sharing your information with other companies in the John Brear Limited Group.
Further information regarding data protection will be provided by us with any loan documentation that may be sent to you.

Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
If however, we are going to use users personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a notice on our web site notifying users of the change.
Credit Searches
We will make searches about you at credit reference agencies who will supply us with credit information, as well as information from the Electoral Register.
The agencies will record details of the search whether or not this application proceeds..
Credit searches and other information which is provided to us and/or the credit reference agencies, about you and those with whom you are linked financially may be used by John Brear Limited and other companies of John Brear Limited Group
Other companies may use the record of searches and any other information provided to the agencies if credit decisions are made about you, or other members of your household. This information may also be used for debt tracing and the prevention of money laundering as well as the management of your account.
We may also pass information to financial and other organisations involved in fraud prevention to protect ourselves and our customers from theft and fraud. If you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this.
Complaints
We have a formal complaints procedure to ensure that your complaint is handled quickly, fairly and efficiently.
On receipt of your complaint which you can make by using any of the following telephone, letter, e-mail or fax, the matters raised will be investigated by our Compliance Officer. An initial letter of acknowledgment should be sent out to you within 5 working days and a final response - (or explanation of why we are unable to do this) should be made within 8 weeks from the day of complaint.
Should it be necessary to obtain information from third parties to further these investigations you will be informed of this and where appropriate your written authority obtained prior to any disclosures being made by us to third parties.
